Intel confirms its discrete GPU will come in 2020

Rumors regarding the release of a discrete GPU coming from Intel have been swirling around recently, but, until today, the company hadn't officially announced anything. That seems to have changed with a tweet by one of Intel's official channels.

While there are no details on what the GPU will be like, the company has now announced that it will indeed be coming in 2020. The tweet includes a link to the article where it was announced that Raja Koduri had joined the company coming from AMD, which we reported back in November .

Previous rumors had suggested that Intel might be taking the wraps off the new device at CES next year , but if that turns out to be the case, this will likely be a very early look, as we'll be waiting at least one more year for the device to hit the market.

Intel hasn't released a discrete GPU in a very long time, but it recently started selling its first processors with built-in graphics from AMD . It remains to be seen how well the company can fight against the red and green giants which currently dominate the market.
